Director

Born in Caracas, Venezuela in 1977, Rondón has a degree in Communications from Universidad Central de Venezuela and a Masters degree in Film Directing from the School of Film and Television at the Academy of Interpretative Arts in Prague (FAMU), Czech Republic. He has written, directed and produced several short films shown at international festivals, including Berlinale, Tribeca, Biarritz, Toulouse, and Havana. His most recent short film, Nostalgia, was selected for the Berlinale Short Film Official Competition 2012, and it was acquired and exhibited by the prestigious ARTE television channel in Europe. La Familia (The Family) is Rondón’s feature film debut, which had its world premiere at Cannes Critic’s Week 2017 in Official Competition and has been selected for more than thirty-five film festivals around the world including Karlovy Vary, San Sebastian, Jerusalem, Chicago, Mar del Plata, and Cairo, winning awards for Best Film in Biarritz, Santiago, Lima and Skopje, among others.
