David Stark is the Coordinator of Latin American and Latino/a Studies and Professor of History at Grand Valley State University. He has a PhD. in Latin American history from Indiana University. His area of expertise is colonial Latin America, with an emphasis on slavery in the Spanish Caribbean, and he has published extensively on the subject. Currently, his research focuses on the professionalization of the clergy in the seventeenth century as well as attitudes toward death and dying in the eighteenth century. He is also a member of the GRLAFF organizing committee.
